    PC screen/monitor advice

    Oh.... When I say nothing else req'd: there was the need for an audio connection for sound; this was done with the audio cable from the PC's 'audio' socket to the audio sockets at the back of the TV. It sounds more complicated written than in practice :)

    PC screen/monitor advice

    Regarding TVs; There's lots with refreshing rates of 100hz nowadays. I bought mine about 5-6 years ago (a Panasonic TH-50PZ81B plasma TV) and it was a doddle to connect up. The cable for the PC monitor was used to connect directly in to the back of the TV (which had a designated VGA socket...

    PC screen/monitor advice

    Just a thought: If your TV has a PC connection, that might be worth considering. A couple of years ago, I got fed up with screen glare, small text, and having an area solely for the PC, so decided to connect the PC to my TV. All works well..... saves space etc.

    Could the wort be contaminated by......

    I racked this brew today; no off smells, nice and clear (for a dark mild!). I did notice several clumps of darker beige bits floating in the FV; I haven't seen this before! Also, on top of the usual light beige coloured yeast slurry in the bottom of the FV was a thick layer of the darker beige...

    Could the wort be contaminated by......

    THanks for clarifying Moley. Yep! I hate 'em now too! :evil: As for wings......I didn't know they had 'em until I looked it up. I first thought it was a Daddy-Long-Legs as it had a slim body and wings but noticed this insect had pincers on its abdomen but they don't have 'em...... I had...

    Could the wort be contaminated by......

    AG#3 today, another mild (SG1.038). All went well. I focused on mash temp, mash liquor and boiler liquor measurements to achieve a 23 litre brew length.... All went well and there was a little over after the boil. :grin: So, after an effective quick chill and the hop-break had settled, I...

    My First AG... A strong MIld!

    After 7 days in the FV the SG dropped to 1.014 and remained there. Day 8 transfered to plastic barrel without priming and stored in warm area for three days Day 11 cracked open the lid to release gasses before topping up with squirt from CO2 bottle before placing barrel in cooler area. Have I...

    using yeast from last brew

    Looked at the slurry; changed my mind...whilst it was probably ok I didn't want to risk it! Am considering "rinsing" yeast from AG #2.oh look ..... there's that steep learning curve again!!!

    yet more on removing safety cut outs...

    Havin' just barrelled my first AG, I've been thinkin' about this "cut off" trait with this boiler. Some said they managed rolling boils without cutouts whilst others seem to have struggled! I'm also reluctant to delve into the gubbings and tinker with the wires as I'm no electrician! :? I'll...

    using yeast from last brew

    Is there any reason why the FV complete with the trub can't be re-used by simply pouring the new wort over the trub (having cleaned the scum fro m the top of the FV? EDIT: I've just barrelled my first AG and put 300ml of "raw/neat" slurry into a clingfilm-covered jar in teh fridge to use...

    Mash tun building

    Looks good Dave1970 but it is 5 US gallons not Imperial gallons so would only hold 18.9 litres.
