    north wales. no damsons a few greengauges. black berries just starting to ripen and the elder berries are very poor. where i normally go there's hardly any. :(

    defrosted the freezer 3 weeks ago and i had some damsons greengages and elder berries. about 14lb in all. so i made up a 5 gallon must. its been fermenting for 3 weeks now and the sg is 1.000 Should i let it ferment out and rack it. or leave it for another week till it's completely stopped...

    egg smell while frementing

    Ive done three 5 gallon cider kits and one smelt of rotten eggs whilst the other 2 never. i put it down (so i was told) to not steralising all my equipment proper. so i just bottled it left it for 6 months and when i opened the bottles it never smelt and tasted great. :thumb:

    bought some clearit wine and beer finings yesterday. 2 bootles a+b for £4.00. not sure who makes it. followed the instructions and they have nearly cleared within 8 hours. wowwwwwwwww :D

    I make cider from brew buddy cider kits. once gassed and bottled i leave them for over 3 months and there pretty good.

    Started them mid august and racked them off when i was getting a single bubble once every 2 minutes (after abouit 2 and a half weeks). i added pectolose and poured boiling water over the fruit to start. ive always added finnings after racking to clear it quicker for bottling then leave it...

    Greengages

    Anyone tried wine made from them ive just done a plain one with lemon zest. and another with a hand full of elder flower and lemon zest. fingers crossed. ive found a tree and had 60lb of them. the jam i made from them is spot on and ive froze down 4olb.

    ive tried quiet a few now and had mixed results. what type of juice do you use and what do you reckons the best for making wine. some people i no use from concentrate and also from pure juices.

    ive now left it 2 weeks bottled in plastic cider bottles in the warm shed out side. opened a bottle tonight added half a spoon of sugar and the smalls almost gone .and t's very nice too. :thumb:

    Boots pressure barrel

    ive got one (thats if its a brown one) i have just done turbo cider in it and it never lost its fizz. mine as you say has got a release valve and also a co2 valve.
