Previous English Springer Spaniel that grew up with me.
Now we have 2 Sprocker Spaniels 5 & 6.
All my family have always had dogs and, when i move out, i'm certain i will not break that trend. Absolutely love dogs!
I did something very similar for Christmas 2014. The best kit i've ever done, went down very well with others too. http://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=49782
- Thomas Coopers Irish Stout
- 500g Whole Chocolate Malt
- 500g Glucose
- 500g Dark DME
- Chocolate Liquer essence (not...
I also started with the Coopers Starter Kit. Was a Christmas present a couple years ago and still use it to this day! Was/am very happy with it :) (just google: 'Coopers DIY Starter Kit' -there's many options of where to buy)
That being said, there are also other similar starter kits from...
Again, i'm just about all set up now. There's plenty I want but not need (let alone the space to put anything!!) - i had a huge brew haul last Xmas and my birthday this summer
I think the one brewing thing I'll get this Xmas will be a vacuum sealer to keep ingredients nice and fresh :D
Bottled tonight. Damn, i need to get a corny set up. I forgot what a pain it is just cleaning and tidying away!
Anyway, all conditioning away. Will try one next week and then probably leave until December.
I didnt bother with the coffee in the end as the cold brewed stuff i made was very weak...
Welcome. I'm not too far away in Doncaster.
Have you had a look for local home brew shops? Always useful to know about because, even if you order your stuff online, you may need a last minute panic buy ;) -been there before!
Remember, there's no silly questions
Was tight but I managed to straight swap with my tap, had to 'screw' it through a little which probably made the hole 1/2 mm bigger (if that makes sense )
I like the romance of waiting until Christmas morning - like a present in itself.
Then again, I like the taste of good beer so 'tis a tough one!
(My porter is to be bottled this weekend and, whilst it's supposed to be my Christmas drink, there'll be no waiting about haha)
Another vote for Coopers Stout :thumb:
Can steep chocolate malt, bottle with coffee, put vanilla in, add lactose for a milk stout, or just do it as normal - plenty of options!
Was the best kit I ever did (did it about this time last year ready for Xmas)
Also, i've been thinking a lot recently about naming it.
All brewday I had a song stuck in my head, 'Go West - King of Wishful Thinking'
Was thinking of putting a twist of that on, something like 'Go West Coffee Porter', and think I've settled on 'Wishful Thinking Porter' - referencing that...
Couldn't resist sampling last night, 1 week into fermentation. Cannot believe the taste! It's incredible already
The main bulk of fermentation finished pretty quickly. I'm going to let it sit for at least another week, then bottle ready for Christmas. Will add further tasting notes to this...
Brewday went well.
Not adding vanilla now, just coffee at bottling
Brewhouse efficiency was 69.08%. I expected 70%, and would've probably gotten it if not for (at least) 2 things:
1 - I dropped some of my mash on the floor (0.5-1ltr)
2 - My manifold wasnt built properly, though i knew that. My...
Used mine today for the second time - no issues (though i'll be descaling the element soon just in case - as limescale has been known to cause cutouts)
Used both times as
a) HLT - warming up my sparge water
b) Boiler (first time 60mins, today 75 mins)
Had no problems either time, however it...
