Started the woodfordes sundew brewing tonight. Short brewed to 21 ltrs and chucked in 500gms of billingtons molasses [unrefined cane sugar] for the hell of it. OG 1050

Are kit yeasts eg coopers, good for the job, or is it worth buying safale and saflager yeasts for example. I was wondering when you add extra sugars or dme etc in a kit brew, would you need to change the yeast to cope with the added stuff. Any help welcome lads :thumb:

Stuck the coopers stout in the fv with 500 gms extra dark dme, i kg of brown sugar and a 415gm tin of treacle. OG 1054. Hope i havnt overdid it with the treacle, as i tasted the sample it came through strongly. :wha:

Ive just finished getting my cerveza on the go. As i used the yeast from the kit on another brew, i bought a saflager w-34/70 yeast at over £4!! Hope its worth it. Also used 1 kg of brew enhancer 2 and OG was 1042

Stuck on the woodfordes admiralds reserve today og 1044 was expecting a bit higher, but i'll give it time to drop to below the 1010 i hope.

Ive had the coopers canadian blonde brewing for ages, so i was preparing for bottling at the weekend when i had time. The tap on the fv containing the brew dosent fit my little bottler. So i had to use a bit of hose to adapt . The hose was slightly small at the tap end of things, and i heated it...

Stuck the coopers dark ale in the fv and gave it a really good mix. Too the OG and pitched the yeast and it read 1030!!!. I was baffled as it was mixed with 500gms of dme and i kg of brew enhancer.......oops i forgot to add the enhancer :oops: So all i could do was add it and give it another...

Took a 1/2 day from work, fitted a tap on my second fv, sterilised, and stuck in the coopers canadian blonde with coopers brew enhancer1, og 1044.

Ive just stuck a st peters golden ale in my new fv [my other fv is now bottling bucket] First reading is around 1046, bubbles in sample jar still there after 30 minutes!! Then again, i gave it an awful harsh stir . Glad to be brewing again after christmas break. :thumb:

Bought the st peters ruby red today and its in the fv, :D Read a lot about it on here and it sounds good. Og was 1044 so well chuffed and short brewed to 21 litres so hopeing for at least 4.5 abv, but more importantly a bloody good pint. :thumb:
