First all-grain, bit of a nightmare

Which hopfilter do you have, the copper one with an elbow and drilled holes? If so, I'd been having similar intermittent issues. I BIAB, but use a Stockport for the mash and then dump into peco for the boil. Made sure, this week, that it was in as solidly as possibly before anything got into...

    No Priming

Cheers lads, was what I thought but wanted to have a second opinion.

    No Priming

Good morning oh fonts of knowledge. I have a strong dark mild OG of 1.059 on the go which I pitched on the yeast cake of the GW Summer Lightning clone (which was delicious going into bottles). I used S04 for the Summer Lightning and it went all the way down to 1.012 nicely. Now the mild has...

    Your favorite kit/dry-hop combo

My go-to on kits was Wilko golden ale dry hopped with citra and/or cascade. It's quite a sweet wort and the hops add a heck of a lot of aroma.

    S-04 yeast attenuation

Last chance to get a Christmas brew on this week and only S-04 in my box of tricks. From what I understand of S-04 here it seems that if I headed for a 1.045/6 OG then I should possibly hero it down nearer 1.010/2. I assume I could go for a lower mash temp making the wort a tad drier in case of...

    Bottling

I use a bottling wand but don't bother with the jug to get the very last out I just put it into a pint glass and sup away...brewer's perk I call it.

Refining you home brew method - what's made the biggest impact?

Had a pop up on a popular social media site which showed my first kit being opened two years ago yesterday. Was about a year doing kits before I decided they weren't the taste I was after and got my Biab equipment. That was my defining moment, a 19litre stockpot enabling me to throw together...

Full volume BIAB with no sparge

Sparging, however rustic, is so beneficial considering its simplicity.

Have a go at simple AG

Ha ha ha! The amount of people here who are creating very decent brews is surely a sign that homebrew is booming and adding to the beer revolution happening at the moment. With all the talk of the current boom in 'craft' brewing in the UK I wonder if any changes will be made to the legalities of...

    HBC BIAB Starter Kit

I went for the Peter's Stout. I don't intend to do many stouts or full length brews, this would be handy to get on and bottled ready for the winter months.

    HBC BIAB Starter Kit

Not this weekend, have the Duloe 10th annual beer and cider festival to stumble through on Saturday, so even Sunday would be a bad idea I reckon. Still tossing this over in my mind to be honest, can't decide whether to pick this up or just the boiler with a hop strainer. I've no desire to use...

    HBC BIAB Starter Kit

Many thanks for that Spapro. Have a weekend home alone coming up, so could be ideal for me to get up to speed with this type of kit and start building stock for Christmas.

    HBC BIAB Starter Kit

Is anyone aware that this deal is still running? I've recently moved house and my previous 19l biab set-up is not suitable (no gas hob / not much safe outdoor space). Supplies are quickly diminishing so am in desperate need of getting back on the brewing wagon. A countertop kettle type setup...

    AG#4 'Citracide'

Wow - down to 1.013 already! US-05 is such a beast. Another few days then it'll be cold floor time for this. 10g Citra thrown in tonight.

    AG#4 'Citracide'

Had a delivery yesterday and as I felt a bit crappy today thought I'd hide in the kitchen and get a brew on in my 19l stockpot. I'd primarily used Citra for dry-hopping kits so thought I would do a Citra only brew. Grain bill. 2.5kg Maris Otter 100g Crystal 50g Caramalt Hops 5g Citra @ 90 5g...

    Brit Hop

There's a definite citrus which I'm used to now I guess, but the blackcurrant was just so obvious, in a nice way.
