    The Wine Show

Just watched the first program on catch up tv, Sunday ITV 4, I thought I would give it 5 minutes and turn it off as it would be full of wine snobs but what a surprise, the red wine section near the end had me thinking as the vineyard turns the must twice a day for a week and the way it is done...

I was watching a tv program, A new life in the sun, Friday 1600hrs channel 4, an ex pat in France bought 80 acres of vines 6 years ago and it showed him making his latest batch of wine, from what I could see all the gear he was using was mancky, he emptied the field hopper through what looked...

    May blossom wine

With spring just around the corner I thought it would be a good time to remind forum members that a really overlooked wine is May blossom or Hawthorn blossom wine. I have made this two times in the past and it has never disappointed me, nothing much happens in the bucket until day 3 to 4 when...

    A right bummer.

Just been diagnosed with diabetes and a sugar level of 17 on the rickter scale, done a google search and i will be allowed 3 glasses of wine per day so it may take me a while to finish off the 22 gallons i have at the moment. Theres talk of putting me on a starvation diet of 600 calories a day...

I have a brain on top of my wow.

I just had to take a picture of my latest batch of Wurzels this morning, i have never seen anything like it, the top layer has formed what looks like a brain pattern and looks quiet still and tranquil but underneath the must is rolling like a banshee, how do i share this with you as i dont know...

To rack ot not to rack.

I started a wurzels on the 30th dec 2010 and because of ill health i could not rack it off until last week, i was a little worried about off flavours but i had no need to worry as it has turned out just as good as the many gallons i have made before, just a thought, Dave NE

    Elderberry & grape juice.

With the Elderberry harvest back on track i was thinking about a marriage of elderberrys and supermarket grape juice. 5lb berrys, 5lt grape juice as a base for a decent country wine (5 galls), has anyone made something similar, cheers Dave NE

    Elderberry disaster.

Last year i posted about too much sugar in my wine and after much help i split the mixture into 2 and ended up with 10 galls instead of 5. I bottled it a few days ago and last night tried 2 bottles, great taste, slept like a baby and woke this morning at 6am with no hangover to speak of, cheers...

    Damson haze.

Hi all, i made some damson wine last year and it has failed to clear, i used pectolase at the start of fermentation and recently tried a 2 part finnings from Wilko's but still no luck. If i used double the dose of pectolase would this affect the flavour, cheers Dave NE
