Hi guys

I have made a 10 litre AG using
1.850kg Maris Otter
50g Crystal Malt light
50g Crystal Malt dark
50g Roasted Barley

using Pioneer and Brambling Cross hops.

I sprinkled in 6 grams of Safale US 05 yeast pitched at 22C

OG 1.048

Within 18 hours my airlock was bubbling away nicely, but today 48 hours later airlock activity has stopped. The gravity is now at 1.030.

My question is, does Safale US 05 work "under the radar" so to speak in relation to airlock activity.

My intention is just to leave it for the 2 weeks unless directed differently.

Also, when putting together a recipe and putting in 2.5% of Crystal Light in relation to the Maris Otter, does the weight of the Maris Otter stay at, for example 2kg or do you subtract the weight of the 2.5%. (take away 50g from the initial 2KG)

Hope that makes sense!

Hi Dafbach, I've found Safale 05 a quick brewing yeast but still leave it 2 weeks in the FV to let the trub settle and compact.

2.5% is the % of the total grain bill so yes subtract the 50g and use 1950g of MO.

2.5% is a very small amount so I'd just use the 2kg of MO, it won't affect the flavour much (if at all.)
