Sorry if this has been asked before but can I use water cooler bottles for fermentation? I would be using glass for long term storage but I can get my hands on a good few water bottles.

As long as you can clean it out okay (no tricky areas like handles where you couldn't clean) and can sanitise it and get a seal on it then i don't see why not.. make sure you keep it out of sunlight though

Keep an eye out for scratches on the inside, especially if the bottle has been refilled by the manufacturer. Scratches provide great hiding places for bacteria and the such.
