Well with the Mrs off away for the weekend and no kids about. Double brews to be made this weekend.

English Ale for the Friday.

Just got the starter on the go this morning.

Never done one before and never used the yeast WLP005. Says it makes for a malty beer which is what I'm after. See what happens.

Saturday will be a single hopped Nelson pale ale. Unsure of yeast yet. Prob lob some 05 dried yeast in.

Updates to follow of my brewing weekend.

Hope it all goes well!

I used WLP005 for the first time recently with a London Bitter recipe. It produced a very decent Krausen and the FG went a little lower than expected (1.009 against predicted 1.011, from 1.045)

The sample tasted great, so hoping this yeast is a goodun'!

Into the FV. Whisked it up loads this time having had my last brew stick. Which having opened one last night was clear to see it hadn't finished fermenting!! Gusher. Big time!!!

1041 I'd say. Happy days.

Let the magic commence. And that concludes brew day 1.

Same again tomorrow.
