I'm using my Electrim as an HLT now

I boiled a kettle and put it in the MT to pre heat it while the HLT got up to 80°C then drained the preheat water and filled the un with 11L of mash water and doughed in. Couldn't believe it I hit a mash temp of 68.0°C 1st time

1st time I've been able to check the pH as well and it was 5.4

I batch sparged with 2 13L sparges
The 1st runnings came out a 1.094, 2nd runnings 1.039 and 3rd were 1.017 in all I collected 32L of preboil wort @ 1.026 (I think)
Boiled outside for the 1st time, and had the traditional pint of homebrew

After the boil the I collected just shy of 23L at 1.042

I'll be fermenting with Gervin Ale yeast for a week before dry hopping.

nice one....and a lovely looking pint of homebrew as well

Lovely looking pint there Nic :thumb:

I was thinking of getting that ph meter, did you get it from amazon?

It was a birthday present so I can't be sure but it was on my Amazon wish list. I have 4.0 & 7.0 buffer solutions and checked it with them. It was accurate out of the box, the temperature readings seem a bit odd though but I don't think that makes a big difference.

Thanks, I'm thinking it will make a good Christmas present :thumb:
