Just about to batch prime my 13 litre Youngs barley wine. Been in primary 2 weeks now, & to save the hastle of putting sugar in every bottle, i thought i would batch prime but wasnt sure how much sugar to add. Also, how long do i leave the brew in the 2nd bucket after priming before bottling?

You want to bottle straight after priming in the bucket. I batch prime 23L of ale with 100g of sugar. Not sure if that's a suitable rate for barley wine as not sure how fizzy it should be. Also need to scale down for 13L.

Thanks for the very fast reply rpt. So, maybe use about 40-50g for 13 litres? So, best get some bottles sorted!

Cheers chaps. Is it best to draw some of the brew out then dissolve the sugar in it? Or is it best to use cooled boiled water?

Boil up a little water to disolve it then put it in it will cool pretty quick in 13L :thumb:
