I have two 2200w kettle elements in my boiler - two on gets a boil going really quick and one will sustain a rolling boil. I`m not sure if the elements your looking at which are 1000w will be as powerful? I`m no electrician but i`m sure some one like muddydisco could help further.

One thing i did check was the power leads - its really confusing because the so called kettle lead is called this because of the connection - the one you are looking at is only a 5amp lead you need a 13 amp hot kettle lead,

elements i used - http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.203-7540.aspx

the kettle lead you are looking at is for pc monitors etc you need one like this

If you bulk buy 5 from Victoria packaging they work out £13 each (minimum order of 5)

Has anyone bought the 60 litre buckets from Victoria packaging and used them successfully as boilers? Looking to buy some but cant be sure they're boil safe.

I used a 60l blue food stuff barrel. I was concerned about it heating up but have had no problem. When i cut the holes for the elements (2 Tesco elements) the plastic was about 4mm thick. Best part was i got six for £30.00 of ebay (collection only).

Cheers
