I have never used a barrel but when I bought a Youngs premium cider - Strawberry and Lime recently I decided that a barrel would be ideal.

However I have been trying to find out the best way to use a barrel (do I add CO2, how much, when etc) and have read that, in fact, a barrel is a bad idea for fizzy cider as too much pressure is required and a barrel cant handle it.

Any guidance would be helpful.

thanks

It did fine for my strawberry and lime cider.

As with any pb co2 needs to be added once it loses its initially carbonation or the barrel needs to be reprimed.
