I have some new can locks that I am going to use for the first time shortly, but there is still machine oil in the parts themselves. Do these need oxy cleaning or similar to degrease before being used for hot wort or water?

Put them through the dishwasher. Or mild detergent/washing up soap,then oxi.
Great - if a bit of washing up liquid will do it, then I’ll wash by hand and then I was going to test my pump by pumping oxi through for a couple of minutes and then rinsing by pumping cold water. I’ll do all my tubing and cams that way.
