Hi All,from what i understand ales usually get bottled in brown bottles why then do lots of breweries use clear ones :?: .
Are the clear ones any use to home brewers as i get loads of them.

Ooh, I think I know this one, unclepumble posted a while ago that commercial breweries can get away with using clear bottles because they cheat or cut corners and use isomerised hop extracts or something called tetralone.

Home brewers can use clear bottles if they are stored in the dark.

I'm pleased about that. I have been taking advantage of Lidl's 99p a bottle Shepherd & Neame offers while the brewery has been in storage and now have quite a lot of clear bottles :D :D :D

I like to do at least one clear bottle per brew, so that I can see whats happening inside the bottle. I keep my ale in crates or boxes in the garage, so they are out of the light, and my two favorite things are together :D
