Had my first 'non kit' experience today, and enjoyed it, still trying to cool the wort down to 24 deg, despite several bags of ice being added to the 3 gallon boil!!!, its at 36 deg now , gravity was 1034 at the initial 42 deg which (thanks to the great calcs on here) I reckon is an og of 1044. Allotment open day on Sun and I am taking along wines and beers for people to try.

It's a deep dark hole your entering alec, with no way out once you try it you'll be turned!
Hope it comes out good :thumb:

Cheers guys, the other (worrying for SWMBO) 'development' is that I found an old 30 Ltr camping gaz cool box in the loft last week, a quick trip to the plumbers mechants for some copper fittings and in the old Rolf Harris style ' can you guess what it is yet???'

Racked it to a second FV with finings today, fermented out to 1006 which pleased me, means 5% ABV, didn't taste too bad either! 5 days clearing then bottles

I think another extract will be brewed before AG, worked all day on the garage but its still a few weeks away from the brewery being in working order

Got round to bottling it tonight (and dropped one and smashed it!!!, worse still after I had filled it!!), anyway tastes like it will be very drinkable in a few weeks.
