Cos I know it will cost mein the pocket.I just wonder why there is this reluctance to free Scotland from the Union. What is it that motivates England to keep hold of Scotland, where, by most accounts Scotland is a drain on resources etc?
N. Ireland costs between 10-15 billion a year.I just wonder why there is this reluctance to free Scotland from the Union. What is it that motivates England to keep hold of Scotland, where, by most accounts Scotland is a drain on resources etc?
I reckon with open arms , a United Europe is far better than a divided one. I think most Europeans can distinguish between Boris Johnson and his version of the Tories and the UK and it's people in general. The pound sterling might be a stumbling block , but I'd personally rather see the UK back in the fold and if this meant allowing them to keep sterling I wouldn't have an issue, but then again I'm not in charge :)Assuming the EU would even want the UK, or what’s left of it back.
They might take the view that it’s more trouble than it’s worth.
One would like to think so, but ask yourself the question, Who voted Boris Johnson in with a landslide? Those very people you mention above. Bless them.I think most Europeans can distinguish between Boris Johnson and his version of the Tories and the UK and it's people in general.

Democracy? The people of Scotland voted to stay within the Union, yet the likes of the SNP and the Greens choose to totally disregard those voters.
Wrong side of the wall.Interestingly, Doncaster is actually Scottish, being ceded to Scotland in the treaty of Durham.
It was never officially given back either.
I really believe that provided the UK and its residents hold their nerve they will end up being better off outside the EU. Has any empire ever survived in the annals of history? The short answer is no. I honestly think it was a good move, the dividends are yet to be reaped, and the reaping of those dividends will take time..I reckon with open arms , a United Europe is far better than a divided one. Where are you denied anything. It is already established that a vote at the moment wont be forthcoming but in the future it will. My opinion is that in the future a referendum won't be an issue.Surely it's the ability it gives you to pursue your own Utopia?
If you lived under a system where you were denied your right to pursue whatever your Utopia may be, I am sure you would not be so chipper.
It sounds a bit like wishful thinking to me. The UK had lots of advantages in the EU, with its opt-outs and right of veto. The UK should and could have been at the helm of running the EU instead of waving its silly little flags with that arch gob farage. But could you tell us where you think these dividends might lie, that we might reap at some time in the future. After 6 years we don't seem to have sight of any of them yet. Scotland will be best served by making closer ties with Europe and NI with reunification. There's no doubt of that in my mind.I really believe that provided the UK and its residents hold their nerve they will end up being better off outside the EU. Only time will tell. But I have every confidence that Great Britain will forge ahead where the EU will flounder. The more diverse nations enrolling into the EU will cause problems. One thing to remember we are all tribes. The diversity among tribes is not something that goes away easily. Differences will always exist, Germany, France Britain and Scandinavian countries have a lot in common, why, there is barely a gnats cock between them. Start taking in Turks, and eastern European countries changes the balance the more diverse nations are the more unwillingness to move forward as one. What evidence have you got that Brexit will be successful.
Agree with you entirely, @foxy , which is why the Picts and the Scots should move on and allow the Angles and the Saxons and the Jutes to get on with their own thing.Only time will tell. Apparently he can't.But could you tell us where you think these dividends might lie
No, nothing like that at all. Scotland would fail as a single nation, it would not be allowed in the EU as a single nation. Just take a look at your balance of payments. The last thing the EU needs is another Greece.EXACTLY the same evidence he has that Scotland would fail.
As much as the evidence it will fail. One can't start a business and expect it to be a success from the start, it has to be built, built on trade, trade agreements have been made between countries, businesses have to build up to that, feel their way forward. I firmly believe that Brexit was the right decision, never going to be an overnight success same as most businesses. What evidence have you got that Brexit will be successful.
"None" would have taken me less time to readNo, nothing like that at all. Scotland would fail as a single nation, it would not be allowed in the EU as a single nation. Just take a look at your balance of payments. The last thing the EU needs is another Greece.

Well it has to be explained to those who's intellect is in need."None" would have taken me less time to read
Well there only seems to be one poster having a hard time understanding what evidence means mate. What you have offered is your opinion on a number of matters.Well it has to be explained to those who's intellect is in need.
