As I was cleaning out the fridge today I noticed a forgotten packet of Irish Stout Wyeast. Upon further inspection, the packet turned out to be 3/4 of the way frozen. As far as I know the small capsule inside the pouch was undisturbed as the packet itself was not swollen when thawed. Is this packet still good or did I just waste a few quid?

Make a starter , 10g dme with 100ml water . That will get it back into shape and then after 24 hrs 100g with 1 litre and it should be good to go after 24/36 hrs. If no sign of life there's your answer .

Hi, yep I'd go with that advice, nothing ventured, nothing gained!

Thanks, I'll give that a try on my next stout. I should probably have a backup just in case.
