Hi there, I've just joined the forum and am new to home brewing. I've got all the gear but currently no idea!

I'd like to practice a fair bit in the run up to Christmas - the only thing I don't currently have is the ingredients. What are people's views on the best place to get these from - I remember that Boots used to do them, but I don't know if they would be any good or if they still do them.

Welcome to the forum

Boots stopped selling homebrew products a very long time ago, but do you have a local branch of Wilkinson's?

Other than that, there's a directory listing of homebrew shops or, for mail order, click on the forum sponsors' buttons at the top and bottom of the page. Homebrew Co., Balliihoo and Easy Home Brew are general suppliers, the others are more specialist for the All Grain brewer.

Thanks, will check out the list

I reckon you'll be drinking your own brew at Christmas

If you've got the gear all you'll need is something to sterilise your equipment with and a one or two tin kit. The two tin kits (eg St Peters Ruby Red) have everything you need, the one tin kits (eg Youngs Harvest Bitter) are similar but you need to add your own sugar.

Wilko's is good, you may have a local shop or as said, order online. Have fun here and have fun making your brew :D

If you order enough online you can make the p&p insignificant. Well, less significant. So think ahead and buy 3 or 4 month's stuff in one go.
