I made 23l of Denny cons bourbon and vanilla porter at the weekend, I had ordered wyeast 1450 online to make a stepped starter the week before brewing, unfortunately it did not come early enough so I made a starter with wlp0001 when the 1450 came on the Thursday I made another starter to hit my pitching rates.
On brew day (sat) I pitched both starters as I wanted some of the 1450 characteristics in the porter.
Has anyone used this combo and will it have any adverse effects on the brew by mixing the strains.
Started fermentation in 3 hrs.
Thanks

I guess as long as they have the same temperature range it should be ok, different yeasts impart different tastes but both these seem to be 'all rounders'. I've just checked and 001 temp range 20 - 23°c, 1450 15-21°c, so try and keep it as close to 20 as you can would be my advice.

Thanks primary is running at 19.5/20'c so hopefully I might get character from both strains then[emoji106]
