I just have to mention my £1 sparger again.(ASDA cake cover with holes drilled) My new setup means my boiler tap sits directly over my mash tun. I just turn on the tap to match the flow out and the fly sparge is done in minutes. Plus you can see whats going on. Perfect!

I love it . . . While there is no need to overcomplicate things, I just can't help tinkering all the time

The water goes out through the little holes in the bottom, not the square ones at the side. I have increased the number to 12 now as my mashes are very free running since I started grinding my own malt. I am getting 50deg per kg/5litre (more than80%) and should improve on that with my bigger boiler.

hers my one 89p washing up bowl

I got one of each.. :D ///.however if I fly sparge I invariably use the washing up bowl as its easier to rest on top of the mash tun between 2 pieces of 2 x 1 timber.
Works a treat, and no worrying about anything spinning around....
