Officer killed in US Capitol car ramming attack

1. Capitol Police say a suspect "rammed a vehicle" into officers at a vehicle access point to the Capitol complex in Washingto
2. The suspect then got out of the vehicle holding a knife and ran towards officers
3. One officer has died of their injuries, another is hurt. The suspect died after being shot by police
4. Capitol police say the incident "does not appear to be terrorism-related"
5. It happened at the North Barricade vehicle access point on Constitution Avenue
6. The US Capitol complex has been locked down
7. In January a pro-Trump mob stormed the Capitol in protest at the result of the 2020 presidential election

What do we know so far?
US Capitol Police say two of their officers were injured after being rammed by a blue sedan car.
According to reports, the driver then emerged and began threatening people with a knife before being shot.
Three people, including the suspect, were transported to hospital.
The incident comes weeks after Congress began removing razor wire fencing and barricades erected after the 6 January attack on Congress while they were certifying Biden's election victory.

The suspect in the attack has died in hospital, sources told the BBC's US broadcast partner CBS News.
The person has not yet been named.

I guess the Americans don't believe in home grown terrorism.
It has the haulmarks of 'martyr for a cause', but it could just be for 5 seconds of fame given that anyone that stupid was bound to get shot.

I read a distopian sci-fi book years ago that basically said, if you didn't like a political figure just post it on the 'net' (book was from a time before we called it the web) & some head case will pick up on it & assasinate them for you. How prescient of the the times we live in.
