Hi, I have a load of lager bottles left over from a party, can I use these to stote my Irish Stout in or should I stick to the regular 500ml Real Ale bottles? I read somewhere that these may not be strong enough to withstand the secondary fermentation

cheers
Pat

yeah you would be better with strong ale bottles or magners/bulmers bottles. u may end up with bottle bombs using the thinner glass bottles.

I was bottling some TC and was going to use a 2 or 3 Becks bottles as I was short of pint cider/ale bottles....I was damned if I could get the crowner to fit the caps onto the Becks bottles - must be a funny shape or something.

I've used them for TC with no problems. If they're tough enough to handle the carbonation of fizzy lager, they should be fine for homebrew provided you don't overcarbonate, or at least, that's my thinking.
