Newbie question about the fermentation bin. My kit came with no hole in the top for a bung and bubbler. Can I fit the lid but not seal it and (probably) not have the brew spoil? I read in several places that this was ok for the first fermentation of wine. Thing is that I just started my first batch in the bin before realising there was no bloody hole in the top!

Many thanks
Paul

Hi KP - loose fitted is fine.

I used to snap the lid shut then wait for the c02 to pop the lid & leave it, up to you but loose fitted is no probs :thumb:

Wez - Phew, well that's good news! Now got a shed with a one week old bin of merlot bubbling away still nicely and another 23l of Great Eastern, yeasted 9.30 this evening. Pretty sure I've got the brew bug!

Sounds that way - and you are in good company here :thumb:
