Hi, I was just wondering if everybody sterilised their spoons everytime they give their wine a stir? It seems a lot of sterilant to use if you're giving your must a stir twice a day. I know cleanliness is the key but was wondering if a good wash would suffice or not.
Thanks.

Get some no rinse sanitiser like Starsan/chemsan and a spray bottle. Spraying over the spoon takes a few ml at most.
Or, if it's a metal spoon, you can just flame it briefly with a kitchen blowtorch or over a gas hob.

This is the way.

Spray bottle, with a no rinse sanitiser, for me too. Not just spoons but scissors, the outside of yeast packets, trial jar in case anything drips back into the wort, I even spray my hands.
