Hi

After recent successful brews (Coopers Irish stout and St Peters IPA) I have brewed a Muntons Midas Touch. On testing the gravity today it has only reached 1018 after 9 days in the primary and doesn't really seem to have moved in the last three days. This is above the target gravity of 1014.

The question I have is should I either leave it to ferment for a few more days or bottle just now and loose a wee bit ABV which probably wouldn't be a disaster. Also is there anything else I could try to move it on a bit. I had hoped lifting the fermenter onto the counter to take a gravity reading may have roused the yeast a bit but it doesn't appear to have.

Any advice anyone can give would be greatly received.

Many thanks

Colin

Hi Colin , yeah it needs more time so i would very carefully mix it up , avoid splashing and raise temp a few degrees (no higher than 24c ) that usually sorts it and around 3 days , maybe more . :thumb:

Cheers thanks. I'll give it a gentle mix and leave another few days. Thankfully I've got a few bottles stashed away so better not to rush it.
