A friend gave me some Hop seeds this spring, two of which have grown rather well.
Next year I expect to get some hops on the plants.
They are Suttons 'Beermakers' hops apparently.

Does anyone have any idea which variety they will be?

Cheers.

If you are growing them from seed it's anyone's guess. That's why they are generally cloned by splitting the rhizomes.

The only thing to do is brew some beer with them.

Do you know whether they're male or female? Only the female produces cones. If you have a male and a female then the male will pollinate the female which will cause the cones to produce seed, which renders them useless for brewing. Not sure if you can harvest the cones before the seeds appear. Hopefully you've got two females because any other combination isn't good.

Thanks guys. Late last summer, one of them did produce something, but it wasn't a 'cone' I guess its a male :-(
