So I've had this Cornish ale in the fv for a week. Today I noticed the insides of the fv were opaque and seemed to be cloudy. Not seen this before so has anybody else. Took a peek inside and it looks and smells fine. Any thoughts?

I have it in a water tub so it's the layer above the water line in the pic

See attachment

Thanks

Looks like a normal krausen ring of yeast to me. There may be some water condensation above the krausen, but if it smells OK, then it probably is OK.

The temperature dropped very suddenly overnight the day before yesterday and that can give some condensation effects in restricted spaces.

All looks normal to me! Though looking at the outside of the FV in a photo isn't the best way to see whats going on in there...

Sorry I was trying to refer to the layer below. Where the '20' is written.

Thanks for lookin

Well, that looks OK for now too. Some initial adhesion of the yeast to the FV.

I'm not a great expert on yeasts, having brewed only with the Nottingham that Muntons kits are sent out with, Belle Saison, Safale05 and the Coopers Ale yeasts.

But you do get these contact effects, usually towards the bottom of the container.
