Hi,

I have a lager just lagering away. There's a tilt in there and the fermenter temperature (Brewtech chronical 7G) is controlled by a STC1000 controller. The controller and tilt roughly tie up when cross checked in water.

When fermenting, the temperatures also roughly match, on the tilt and STC. However now I am approaching my lagering temperature (currently the setpoint is at 3.5C and the actual as just managed 3.4C) the tilt shows much higher at 6.1C

I am sure this is due to layering effect in the fermenter, the thermowell is located near the bottom of the fermenter (not far from the chiller coil in reality) and the tilt is floating at the top of the beer.

Whats folks thoughts? Do I ignore the tilt temperature and use the STC1000? (The STC1000 was cross checked against another device so I know this is ok).
