Hello All,

Just put down a Kolsh, I'm using a Wyeast Kolsh liquid starter. I smacked the pack 3 hours plus in advance and the pack swelled up as expected. I pitched a little warm (maybe 24c). After about 6 hours I see no activity at all, with dry yeast I would normally see something on the top of the wort but so far nothing.

Is this normal or should I have expected some yeasty action by now?

Thanks again.

6 hours is way too early to tell, I've had some yeasts lag for 2 or 3 days. There should be some signs of life tomorrow. What was your batch size, og, starter size?
24 is warm for a kolsch yeast can you get it down below 20?

Room temp is about 20c so it is dropping all the time.

No starter just smacked the pack and pitched after 3+ hours.

Your pitch rate is a bit low which can increase lag time but it'll turn out fine. Despite what the packaging says you're best to always make a starter with liquid yeast.

Seems like there is some action this morning and all is well in the FV!

Thanks for for info.
