Hi guys!
So summer is on the horizon and I'm planning on doing a 5 gallon batch of my cherry turbo cider. It seems to be a favourite amongst friends and family (and myself!) and makes rather fruity and refreshing drink if i do say so myself :-)
My usual 1 gallon recipe is as follows...
2.5L ASDA apple juice
2L ASDA apple and cherry juice
280g brewing sugar (sorry, this is an edit, forgot to include it!)
1 cup strong black tea
1tsp pectolase
1tsp yeast nutrient (DAP)
1pk Bulldog cider yeast (sweet or medium)
I'm wondering if the DAP will be good enough for the larger batch as it can be toxic to the yeast? I've read that making meads normally requires some other nutrients that aren't toxic (Fermaid O, which i have some of), would I be able to use this at all?
Also, will 1pk of that yeast be ok or will i need a couple packets to be safe?
As always, your experience and knowledge is gratefully appreciated! :-) cheers!
