Today is 4 weeks since I put on a Woodfordes Admirals Reserve beer kit. 2 weeks in fermenter then transferred to King Keg for another 2 weeks. I'm going to do 2+2+2 method. I read that this is only a guide, but figured its a good starting point.
What temperature is advised for the next 2 weeks...
Hi Hazelwood. Yes your guide came up in a search result. I did read through it but I couldn't find the precise answer I was looking for. Very well put together, so I may have over read it. So basically if an option isn't offered I'd need a conversion kit. I'll have another read through... sadly...
Hi. I'm looking at ordering a King Keg, never used one before. I'm getting flustered with all the different taps and caps etc and I don't know what's compatible with what. I'm set on getting a bottom tap King keg with a 4 inch cap, but will this come compatible with the co2 bulbs and holder I...
Hi inkbird. The probe was positioned to the side of the fermenter insulated against ambient temperature, something which appears a lot of people do.
I haven't been very active here as of late. The issue has been dealt with by the company I bought it from and they exchanged it for a Mangrove...
Actually I think that's it. I have one of those taps still in the packet from wilko, comes with tubing and a rigid tube with a siphon guard on the bottom 👍
Hi chrisb8. I exchanged it for a stc 1000 mangrove jacks unit in the end. I messaged a couple of topics on here trying to find an answer but I just thought side it, swap it. There's been others with the same problem we're not the only ones.
18 is fine. No point increasing the temp if it's happy unless you know the yeast. After about 3 or 4 days it should slow down a bit but keep it there. If your 18 should drop after that I'd take it up a bit just to make sure it's the best chance of finishing. If you can keep 18 throughout that's...
Ah the head space in a DJ is very little compared to a fermenting bin eh. Yeah I thought that might be a thing. The lid fits nice and snug though. You know I might just try it with some plain water, if don't work I'll just have two blow off tubes jointed into one with a Y piece or something...
Hi. I watched a video where somebody drilled 2 holes in a bung and used it with a straw and a siphon tube in a demijonn to start a siphon by blowing down the straw. I understand the mechanics of what's going on but I just wondered if this could be done with a 23l fermenter if the lid fitted...
I've swapped the Inkbird to a Mangrove Jack's dual temperature controller. I didn't mind paying the bit extra. Only difference seems that the Inkbird has alarms for if temps get too high and too low, and you can set separate hi/lo differentials. Still, the unit has to work for this to be any use...
I have a wall thermometer in there, at the moment its reading 13°C, that would drop a bit further over night I'd assume. I've read about brew belts scorching but it would be snug around 2 demijohns with water in them. What do you think? If a tube heater is still the better way to go do you have...
