Wilko kits - best way to go?

Okey dokey, thank you. I did wonder if something like this would be the case. I'll just get a single can tomorrow. I did notice one of their stouts apparently has an extra sachet of hops (one of which I could omit) but I don't think I'll risk messing it up. Thank you!

Wilko kits - best way to go?

My brew fridge is empty, no kits at home to get started and my local brew shop doesn't open until Saturday. So I think I'll pop in to Wilko tomorrow to see what they have. My last 1/2 dozen kits have been the two-tin Munton's kits and I feel they are far better than the single tin kits. St...

    Should I just bottle it?

Well, a week after my first post it had fallen to 1.010. Two weeks on (20st Aug) it was still at 1.010. This is at 22C +/-1C. I'm not expecting it to be to my taste and I've got a Hazy IPA kit begging to get started so I just bottled it. I did prime the brew before bottling with 85g sugar so...

    Kegerator - done slightly differently

:) Yes, I realised this when I went looking for that wiring diagram. It's a couple of brews in and has seen me through at least one heatwave... I can't believe I didn't put it together sooner!

    Kegerator - done slightly differently

I know there are lots of 'how to build a kegerator' threads all over the internet but I thought I share a few pics of how I did mine, for anyone that is interested in making one. I was keen to keep the cost down but also to make it a little bit neater without hacking the fridge to bits...

    Should I just bottle it?

OK, thanks. That leads onto another question RE taking gravity readings. My main fermenting bucket doesn't have a tap so when I bottle I transfer to a bucket that does have a tap. I usually leave it a few days to settle before bottling. Obviously there is an oxygen exposure but so far I've not...

    Should I just bottle it?

Hi guys I've got another "is it finished" dilemma! I'm doing a Munton's Belgian Style Ale from their Hand Crafted Range. The instructions say approx 5 days at 18-20C so it's at 1.014, then transfer to a second fermenter, raise temp to 20-24C, add half a cup full of the lees from the first...

Simple, cheap safety valve for a KK lid

Thank you for your suggestion. Yep... I'm pretty well at that point. I thought I'd give the KKs one last try but bottled it (literally!!) at the last minute.

Simple, cheap safety valve for a KK lid

I've been plagued with my top tap KK barrels leaking pressure. It's always from the Hambleton Bard valve - usually from the inlet but sometimes from the safety part. I've bought new valves, fitted new rubber bands and tried every trick I can find to sort the problem. Recently, I fitted schrader...

    Muntons Hazy IPA finished?

Thanks for your reply. I've moved it to a different FV and to somewhere a bit warmer... 20C ish. I'll see where it's at on Wednesday. Thank you

    Muntons Hazy IPA finished?

I'm a bit unsure if I should bottle or not. This is the first brew I've done where I haven't reached the FG I expected. Having said that, my OG seems higher than usual. I've stuck to the instructions (almost!) and used the bundled S-04 yeast. It's just about reached 1.014 (possibly 1.015) when...

    Stalled, dead, fermenting or finished?

Thank you so much for your replies and I'm sorry to take so long to respond... first chance since I started the topic that I've had on front of the computer! I was mistaken with the 1.005... the instructions said 1.008. I since found my old notes and so many of my brews started at around 1.05...

    Stalled, dead, fermenting or finished?

After nearly 10 years since my last brew I thought I’d dig out the equipment and get brewing. But I’m a bit puzzled and hope for some advice please. It’s a bog standard Muntons IPA bitter, I used the bundled yeast and 1kg of Youngs enhancer. Initially the OG was 1.05. The instructions said it...
