    Sparge water heater

Thanks for the reply. I was just about to add a post saying what I’d done. I’ve messaged the seller but they aren’t open till Monday apparently and I’ve also messaged Grainfather asking about the fitting itself. Anyway after boxing it back up and twiddling my thumbs for a while I decided to have...

    Sparge water heater

Hi Ladies and Gents, I’ve bought a 40l Grainfather water heater and it’s been delivered this morning. After opening and assembling it I noticed a hole where the heating bulb should be. Now, I’ve messaged the place I bought it from but they’re shut till Monday and I was wondering if anyone knew...

Ye olde Corny question (no doubt) again

Right, the saga continues. We've got a rather groovy beer shop called "Beautiful Beers" and luckily the owner brews his own beer and stocks pretty much everything you need homebrew wise which I didn't realise. So, it seams like the more you read the more you get confused as they say "there's...

Ye olde Corny question (no doubt) again

I went for The Malt Miller in the end. They had everything I needed in stock. I ordered 3/8 beer line but might get some 3/16 off eBay with a couple of JG reducers if I have trouble with froth. It's all making my head spin to be honest but hey I'll get there. Thanks for the replies Guys. Keg...

Ye olde Corny question (no doubt) again

I'm new to all this Corny business basically because I'm sick of bottling and was hoping for a starter set but I don't suppose it's rocket science, but I don't want to rush in and buy stuff that's no use. For instance I was reading about the length of beer line to help alleviate a lot of froth etc.

Ye olde Corny question (no doubt) again

Where's a good place to get Corny's from? I'm in Suffolk and have been looking (googling) around for a starter set up. Just one corny, regulator connectors etc but as I've built a Keezer/kegerator i don't need a party tap. Everywhere I've looked have either sold out or are prohibitively...

Before my first attempt some deliberations

Have you brewed a Scottish Harvest Ale before? If not, do what it says on the tin then go from there. Next time you brew it alter it slightly if you think it needs it, you'll be surprised at the quality of a kit beer even a cheap one and if you do like it you've saved yourself the cost of beer...

Before my first attempt some deliberations

IMHO If you've got the time, space and inclination Just jump straight to all grain, You can still brew the odd kit if you want. A small outlay and a little skill (and all the help you'll ever need from this forum) will produce outstanding beer, whatever your taste. There's loads of recipes about...

    Priming/Storing

That was a job and a half, got drenched, talk about bottle bombs! I normally leave my beer for 3 weeks, I don't bother with a secondary just a bottling bucket. This one I bottled after 2 so perhaps I was a bit premature. That coupled with a yeast I'd not used before. I've lost a bit of beer...

    Priming/Storing

Brilliant, I thought I was going to have to bin it. They're all swing tops so that's a job for tomorrow. Feel a bit better now.

    Priming/Storing

1009, might be a tad lower because the gas brings the sediment with it. It tastes fine albeit fizzy, so it's possible that the yeast wasn't quite finished when I bottled it although it did look finished and it had hit the gravity I was aiming for. I used a Danstar Windsor yeast this time just to...

    Priming/Storing

Fg was 1012 from 1050. It was in the FV for 2 weeks. I'll crack a bottle open tomorrow and flatten it, it tasted fine last time I tried it, but there's a first time for everything. I'm right in thinking that the temp I'm storing it at isn't to high then, and it shouldn't be stored at normal...

Have I posted this in the wrong place?

    Priming/Storing

Bit late for this brew but I'll try reducing the temp down to 8 or 9c to see if that makes a difference after a week in the warm.

    Priming/Storing

Yep that's what I've done, I was wondering if storing it at 11.3 was a bit high. I know that's a decent temp for serving.
