    Alternative yeast nutrient for elderflower sparkling wine

    Hola, read this with great interest, my question is regarding the elderflowers themselves. . . do you have to take the flowers off or chuck in the whole head including the stalk ? i have a massive elderflower bush in the garden , and as i already have cider, crabapple wine, sloe and damson gin...

    King Keg - total loss

    I had the same happen a few weeks ago with a plastic barrel. . . . 17 out of 25 litres onto the shed floor :( unfortunately the tap seal let go before the pressure release valve on the top - i could have sworn i tightened it harder than that. and it was a first pressing barrel from last october...

    New to home cider making

    We used a mixture of apples from the trees in my garden, and farm pyo ones. using supermarket juice is easier, i also used crabapples in the last supermarket batch to give it some je ne sais quoi, however that one is still bubbling, so jury is still out. . . .

    Currently have 3 vessels of cider just finishing fermentation, racked 2 of them off today. Also, I know it's not strictly brewing, but I also have about 12 litres of damson and sloe gin on the go, and a couple of wine kits that keep looking at me out of the corner of their eye...

    Afternoon, my name is Paul, currently residing in West Sussex, returning to homebrew after a long break. Currently patiently waiting for my squished apples to turn into something more appetising... But as I've left the light on in the shed, I'd better go back out there and check things out...
