  • I am using an Inkbird for the first time with a heat mat. Do I
    1. Put the probe between the mat and my plastic fermenter
    2. Fix in to the outside of the fermenter with tape.
    3. Drill another hole in the lid and put it in the wort and seal with tape

    Thanks

Interesting, I have just started using one too. I have opted to put the sensor directly into the fermenter. Would this not be advised?

You can get thermowell's quite cheap either from online retailers or indeed from China. Once they are secured onto the lid, they should offer proper security if sanitised properly - then you can drop the probe down the thermowell and measure from the center.

I use a thermowell on one FV and I use one in bubblewrap on the outside on a different FV. After a few tests I have found the thermowell to be more responsive with temperature changes and more accurate but its all relative so if you're fermenting in the mid range of what's good for the yeast I don't see it as making that much difference. But if money and skills aren't lacking then a thermowell is better IMO.
    Hi will the

    Hi,
The Inkbird ITC-308 control the temp within a range not a point. Control range is -50 ~ 99C.
If want to control the temp of heatbelf at 22C, temperature range can be set as 20 ~24C.
Please set TS (temperature set value) =22,
    HD (heating differential value) =2,
    CD (cooling differential value) =2.
Then it will turn on heater at 20°C (TS-HD), turn off at 24°C(TS+HD).
Hope it can help you a bit.

I set the differentials at 0.3 and get good control.
Hi. Just a query about the wifi 308. How many days does the controller keep the logged data points. I am in the process of setting up a nano brewery and need to keep temperature data for my cool store and fermentation chamber. If your piece of kit keeps the data it logs for a week or greater I will not have to purchase 2 data loggers but 2 of your product instead.
    many thanks for your help
