any experience with £25 "homebrew" pump

Already got the pump delivered! Also adaptors to 1/2 inch barb! all in a week. One slight problem is that I can't figure out which one is in and which one is out. Hope silicone tubing will be delivered in time for my sunday brew!

any experience with £25 "homebrew" pump

Thank you AdeDunn for excellent advice. Should try to get these camllocks. getting confused by all these BSP NPT MPT etc. I want to keep my brewing single vessel and easy, so will try if just recirculation in the boiler helps. Interesting you said that lifting a bag ruins everything...

any experience with £25 "homebrew" pump

thanks for recommendation. just bought one for £45. had to buy 2 1/2 BST to 1/2 barb adapters though (£7). Probably should also buy quick release. Hope it all arrives before my next brew. Now I think I probably should also get false bottom.

Best place / time to buy grainfather

well, I'm sure you'll get fitter as it will be plenty of running up and down the stairs :) anyways, grainfather is an excellent piece of equipment, I'm sure you'll enjoy it! one advice to improve efficiency. Don't be tempted just to add grains and turn on recirculation. Once you added your...

    Thermometer

some say it's best to avoid glass as if shattered it will ruin the batch. I have mentioned one by MyQuil, also just got one with a remote probe. Handy as you can put probe in as you boil and keep it during chilling: https://amzn.to/2Qoh2HI Though one thing I learned hard way about these...

any experience with £25 "homebrew" pump

Anyone tried to use one of these "homebrew" pumps available on ebay and amazon? https://amzn.to/2x5ipSx considering to add recirculation to my BIAB setup. Basically recirculate through the grain bag to clear the wort a bit. thanks

BIAB - second brew. improvements and question about bazooka

did my second BIAB last weekend. went much easier, but not without additional improvements. First, I bought massive colander (https://amzn.to/2NuYSoW) to fit on top of my boiler, so I don't have to hold bag of grain waiting for it to drain. This was really helpful. Bough Microbore Copper Pipe -...

Best place / time to buy grainfather

hmm.. after 2 years of brewing with grainfather, I scaled down and now did 2 batches as BIAB. At first I thought that brewing with grainfather was easier... but after my second brew last weekend I am under impression that brewing smaller (10L) batches on a hob is actually more fun and I'm done...

First AG Brew hop addition question

5 gallon is quite a lot to pour. I would suggest to put hops in a bag and then remove just before you pour. Less things to worry about as you handle your boiler full of wort. Is it ok to pour? depends on your physical abilities and if you can get a good grip on your boiler. I would suggest to...

first BIAB experience - good and bad

ok, thanks, will add stainless steel pan scourer to my list of additional stuff for my next brew. I assume you don't use hop sock with this?

first BIAB experience - good and bad

actually good idea with a top up, will do next time if excessive boil-off happens. 60g of hops per 14L pre-boil, is it a lot of hops, or low hop for you? tube mesh filter is what I have. When I opened the tap, I got lots of gunk first, then about 6L of nice clean wort, and then it just...

Adding oak chips to a Black IPA

I came across a link recently (port66?) where they were soaking oak chips in different spirits, reporting good results aha, here is the link: http://www.port66.co.uk/pimpmybeer-spirit-additions/ plan to do it myself on one of my next brews

first BIAB experience - good and bad

def getting an immersion chiller I've been brewing on grainfather for about two years but now decided to scale down. Probably should have just bought small-batch pipework but it's too late now :) Need to learn how to brew on simpler setup. Actually tempted to add removable grain basket...
