Big help please at wits end!!!!

As you drink your beer you will lose pressure because you are taking beer out of the PB, therefore the gas will now occupy a larger space and naturally be of a lower pressure. You will need to recharge the PB with gas as you drink your beer to compensate for the loss of beer volume. The beer...

    STC1000 and LIDL Jam maker/boiler

Hi, I hope someone can help me. I have a few questions, my LIDL boiler has just quit on me, the thing wouldn't power up. I opened it up and bypassed the electronics so that the mains went straight to the element and it works, but obviously no temperature control, complicated story but that was...

Thinking about a trip down to faversham, but the shop hasn't tweeted for 4 months and I heard that it had closed. Any news?

whisky from peated grains and turbo yeast!?!

Just a thought, but if you could carbonate it and use a sodastream type concentrate as a mixer, it wouldn't be much different than a regular strength drink.

    refractometer

I just went on ebay and bought one! So to test it you need 10g of sugar and 90g of water (1ml weighs a gram) In fact since you need such a small sample to test you could probably use 1g of sugar and 9g of water. You now have 100g (or 10g) of solution of which 10% is sugar. I hope that is...

    Bayou propane burner

I considered one of those a while ago but swmbo was on a winge fest about the amount of gear I have so I had to find an alternative. I now have a Paella burner a bit like this one except mine is 45cm...

    refractometer

Ok, simply put you started with 100ml and then added 10g of sugar, and for the sake of simplicity lets say that took the volume to 110ml. You now have to work out the percentage of sugar in the solution and since you know what amount of sugar you have (10g) you divide that by the volume...

Don't forget that your calculation needs to take into account you now have more than 100ml.

    freeze fermenting?

Not only excess water, if you want to remove all of the bad stuff and then water it down to the same strength it was to start with, then it is still illegal! That is not just life, that is odd.

    should i rack my brew?

Yes it is still fermenting, and btw you do have testing equipment, your tongue! Take a small sample of your sugar wash and taste it, if it is sweet then it has a way to go. I would suggest adding a little more water if possible since 20 litres is a bit short of the recommended amount. This would...

    Out of date wine kit

Last year I finally got around to getting rid of the fridge freezer from my cellar, it was a russian built model and was fine when I was single but when I got married and moved, it was too small, so I put it straight into the cellar and I bought another one. I checked before it was taken away...

Twisting my sobriety: Woman escapes DUI charges by proving her body’s a brewery

My take on this (As if I was the Judge!) is that her license would be taken away in the same way as someone who didn't know they had epilepsy would be treated. Once her condition was controlled then she might get it back.
