I have done this on occasion too, just take a good scoop of the old trub set it to one side. Clean out the fermenter etc, get the brew in and then re pitch the old trub.
Works well :thumb:
I think I read somewhere that you can only recycle the trub like this for about half a dozen brews as the...
Usually a beer maker but got given a year out of date premium 5 gallon wine kit. As it was free thought I might at well give it a go ..
Got it into a fermenter pretty late Sunday night. Was a little concerned as it was a bit out of date that it might not kick off but it's going like the...
BIAB is AG ! Just an alternate method requiring less equipment / initial outlay compared to a traditional 3 vessel setup. Capable of producing just as good results born out by blind tasting tests. I don't vew BIAB as a stepping stone on the way to 3 vessel systems. They're both All Grain and...
My three arrived today... Just on a visual inspection they seem pretty good ..no major dings or nasties ... a few labels that need a soak to remove and a good overall wash they'll be fine.
I personaly think there is more risk of introducing a possible infection by racking to a secondary than any benefit gained. Just leave it in the primary and it will clear. Any "sitting on the trub" off tastes would take many weeks if not months to occour.
It will be fine, a lot of people don't even use an air lock and just leave the lid slighly loose. People read too much into air lock bubbles.
So dont worry !
I have used one of these for dozens of brews, has stood up well !

It pretty big, can get a whole 5 gallon grain load in it but maybe not as big as is ideal so I lift it in and out a few times and generally swish it about a bit...
Maybe cooker dependant as I use a 50 Litre pot on my 4 ring gas gooker and 2 burners get a really good boil going.
Worth testing how a cooker performs before spending out on elements or burners etc ..
50 Litre... you need enough size to hold the full brew water + all the water that will boil off + all the water the grain will absorb + enough space to get all the grain in as well !
A common mistake is underestimating just how big a pot you will actually need to do full length BIAB properly
