    Re Charging Co2 Bottles

BOC are a greedy, money hungry company that will not help you out if you have your own cylinders. I've asked. They will however rent you a cylinder at vast expense and charge an arm and a leg for each refill. I would try and find a cylinder online and find a place that refills fire...

    Gas cylinder

I hope so. I changed supplier recently. I don't have a signed rental agreement. Even if they don't it's hardly expensive. Just annoying.

    Gas cylinder

The relief valve on my gas cylinder decided it was time to give up yesterday. I didn't hear it, but apparently there was a very loud bag in the middle of the night. I've never had this happen before, and have been renting cylinders for over a year. I'm guessing that if I take it back to the...

Gas for multiple cornies at once

I'm looking at doing this. I'm using a tee piece at the moment, but need a second regulator for different beer styles. I don't have £50 to spend so i was thinking of using one of these: Ebay Linky I'd use a couple of John guest fittings, or some push fittings to connect it all up.

Quick fill-Bottling beers the MEB(quick) way.

Yeah I was gonna say. Its not the methanol that's poisonous but the by-products when it's broken down by the liver. If ethanol is present, the liver ignores the methanol (which is excreted unchanged) and gets to work on the ethanol.

    Dirty CO2??

Nitrogen isn't very soluble in liquids. The result is the beer won't be fizzy if you pressurise with pure Nitrogen. However it does mean you can use a high pressure for moving the beer long distances (from cellar to tap), or for forcing through a restrictor plate (like in a stout tap) without...

    Back to Basics Challenge!

I thought the calculations were the point of the challenge. Showing that you don't need calculators or software to come up with beer recipes. Okay aleman, go proper old skool and don't use a thermometer. You could add X amount of water to boiling water to get the strike temp. I was going to do...

Lager malt: 590g Amarillo Hops: 4.5g (AA 9.5%) Brew length: 2800 ml (0.75 US gallons) According to Palmer, 1 pound of lager malt raises the OG of 1 gallon (US) of water by 37 points. So: 453g of malt raises the OG of 3.78 liters of water to 1.037. I had 590g (1.3 pounds) of lager malt, and...

Our softener only treats the tap in the kitchen. I brew using water from the outside tap.
