    Shopping for grain and hops

Hey guys, Does anyone have a favourite online shop for buying brewing ingredients. Have struggled to find a store that stocks everything I need for a given brew. Search through stock adding it to the basket and then fall at the last one or two ingredients. Would ideally like to find a one stop...

    Bottling day: Session IPA

Hey David, Yep was an auto-siphon, I had to carry the FV down a set of stairs and down a narrow corridor, weight and awkwardness meant it definitely got transported less steadily than I would have hoped for, I think you're almost certainly right. I had considered this and thought the hour or so...

    Bottling day: Session IPA

No cold crash or anything, just two weeks in FV (I think most fermenting finished in the first week), another week with dry hops added. Yeast was Safale US-05. Why would this increase the return? The recipe came with instructions for 19 litres so I figured I'd be in the right ball bark. Didn't...

    Bottling day: Session IPA

My first ever brew is now sat happily in bottles, with a couple of weeks to condition I cannot wait to try it! Couple of things to note from the bottling: 1. I had around 20 litres in my fermenter and this translated to 16.5 litres in the bottling bucket, this seemed a bit of a poor return but...

    Fermentation worries

Hey, Unfortunately I completely mucked up that batch. I was a little disappointed but had another go. This time ended up with a OG of 1.047 and again the SG is sat at 1.024. Compared to 1.051 and 1.026 previously. This felt relatively similar so got me wondering, anyway after a bit of...

    Fermentation worries

Thanks, I didn't realise that was a problem so I have been tasted it when I took the readings on Sunday and today. I have a tap on my fermenter (it's a Mangroves Jack SS fermenter) so getting a sample has been simple at least. It does have some bubbles and tastes a little sweet, less hoppy...

    Fermentation worries

Hey, I've just measured again and it hasn't changed from 1.026 Is it still best to wait it out, or three days without change indicative of no further change? Temp has been very steady.

    Fermentation worries

    London Water

Thanks guys, I'm in SE London as well. I went for straight tap water this time as I read to get the basics right before worrying too much about the water. Appreciate the info and will try to give it a go next time.
