Hello all,

Today I racked some mead with the siphon mentioned above. One problem though, it comes with a bottling wand pre-attached? I tried everything to get the wand off, hot water, heat-gun etc. but it wouldn't budge. I had already started the racking process and had to follow through, so I ended up cutting off the bottling wand so I was actually able to use the siphon as intended. Does anybody have experience with this siphon? Is it only supposed to be for bottling? Will it work if I just reattached the bottling wand when I will eventually need it? I can show a picture of the connection before I cut it if that helps someone..

Regards,

Yuri

Joking aside I was gifted one, yes I have experience, but not a good one. Send it back!
Well I already had to cut the wand off to use it for standard racking, so I doubt they will take it back.. I was hoping someone dealt with re-attaching it before

Get a syphon tap shove it in the end of the syphon tube then put the wand on the tapered end.

That is a really good idea, I didn't know these taps existed, thank you so much!
It's not ideal as you may find the flip is a bit slow I used this method for a while then decided a better solution would be to cut the fat part off the tap where the wand fts to it I heated the syphon tube in boiling water and put the fat part into the syphon tube allowing me to fix the wand to it and remove it as needed, if you need a picture I will add one later when I am at home.
