    BIAB newbie question

You're not moving to quickly mate, grain is more forgiving than what some people think. I did two kits and then went to Biab and have done about 20 AG brews now. It is without doubt the easiest route into AG brewing. Pick an easy recipe to start with and crack on, once you've worked out your...

    The Beer Machine 2000

 Beer Mix So basically dry malt extract with some hop extract, add water and yeast. This would be about as basic and disgusting as you can brew.

FIRST AG BREW DAY BIAB #1 PICS

Nice work, I'd definately invest in a chiller, makes life a little easier. Maybe make a yeast starter as well. A simple recipe of 100G light dry malt extract boiled up for 10-15 mins with a litre of water. Then cool and put in sterilised demi john with your chosen yeast a couple of days before...

    tesco kettles

I wouldn't even bother with value elements anymore, I found they failed so frequently I bought something along these lines. Perfect for biab. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Universal-275 ... 2c73924c1e

AG#5 Gail Porter With A Twist

Hi Mate, I got mine from Ebay, it's a Viking sparge bag. I've had a look and they don't seem to be doing any at the moment and I can't find the seller. That's the one I'd try and go for though as it's massive, strong too!!

AG#5 Gail Porter With A Twist

Sorry guys I've not been on in a while and hadn't noticed the bump!!!! No sparge or even a squeece of the bag, that's not to say it wouldn't be of benefit but brewing total volume I've always hit the targets I've needed, sometimes even more than I need!!! Yes the recirculation is the same...

    The dark side

I did a bouncing squirrel for my first AG. It's in the recipe section here, couple of grains and a couple of hops so nice and simple. No need to overcomplicate things as you're popping your cherry :-) Good luck!!!

    Kits to All Grain concernes

Consider a local micro brewery, One near me has sold me grain hops and yeast for a 40 pint brew for less than a fiver before!!!!! It's nothing to these guys as they probably spill the same quantity on a brew day as i would use

    BIAB

BIAB is an excellent way of getting into AG brewing. I did a couple of kits then took the step and haven't looked back. It's cheap it's simple and you can churn out very very good beer. Not saying it's any better than traditional tun/sparge brewing but i'm more thsan happy with what can be...

    Gravity Reading ...

I'm not sure what the instructions are on that kit but at first glance 2kg of sugar is a lot to add to a kit. That hydro reading could well be correct. Have you checked it in water at the correct calibration temp?

    Biab, chilling neccessary?

Before having a chiller I'd put the hot wort into a fermenter and then put in in the bath. This method works but it still takes hours to get it down to pitching temp.

    Preserving hop aromas and flavours

I'd go with that, handfuls of cascade in the last few mins or at flame out and use US-05. It will smell and taste amazing! :thumb:

First AG brew - stuck fermentation

Glad it's turned out okay, I've had AG#13 stick, It's on 1022 from 1054 and just won't budge after trying all the usual tricks. No idea why it's happened as all instruments have been double checked, this is the first time. I'm gonna keg it and see how it finishes :thumb:

    weak and flat beer

To get any kind of decent answer you'll need to provide more info. Mash temp? When you added hops? Basically a step by step run down of what you did and when? Not sure the topping up with cold water to 25L sounds good, and the OG looks a little optimistic but that might be just me.

I used an online pharmacy, got two bottles delivered for around £13. The stuff is amazing. And I can see two bottles lasting me months, possibly years!!!
