    Young Newbie from the midlands!

Been away for a short holiday this weekend, got back and got round to bottling my coca-cola, the taste is interesting, flat coke at the beginning leading to a malty beer like finish, quite different to coca cola flavour really! My brother and I just bottled his 30 litres of cheeky vimto, it...

    Young Newbie from the midlands!

The coca cola is going well Arthurbear :) it's still bubbling away, albeit quite slowly now, I'll take a hydro reading later to see where it's up to. It smells quite like cheap flat coke, tasting will have to wait though! I bottled my wurzel today, a cheeky sample says it tastes very nice! The...

    Young Newbie from the midlands!

Okey dokey. I've been using Morrisons 'Trust' sterilising fluid. It's a lot cheaper and easier to use than the sterilising powder I got from my LHBS. I had a look at my Wurzel this morning and it's dropped even clearer, quite amazing really! :D

    Young Newbie from the midlands!

Coca cola is well along the way, should be bottling it mid-week :) my brothers pineapple and blueberry 'ciders' have exploded (quite literally) their way through fermentation in just 5 days! We'll bottle them tomorrow, we'll be using my brothers fancy new capping machine (he has too much money)...

    pineapple cider??

My brother started his Pineapple cider today. 4 litres pineapple juice and 1 litre apple juice, he only used 100gs sugar, but he should still get 5-7%, can't remember his hydrometer reading. He also used yeast nutrient, because of the higher acidity of the juice. It got bubbling in no time and...

    Young Newbie from the midlands!

Don't worry ericstd, I'll have my brother joined up in no time ;) Turbotez, the coca cola was quite simple. I wanted it to remain quite coca-cola-ry so use 4 litres of original coca cola, boiled to flatten it and then dissolved 300g of sugar in, maybe a bit much as OG was 1050 and it'll...

    Young Newbie from the midlands!

Yesterday I bottled my Ginger beer and Cheeky vimto, both very tasty already, hopefully even nicer after clearing & carbonating :D my original turbo cider is pretty much ready to drink, the first bottle I opened wasn't as fizzy as I hoped, but hoping that's just a dud and the others are much...

    Young Newbie from the midlands!

I'm really looking forward to it. I'll get all my kit sorted in time so i dont have to go searching for a LHBS too soon when i'm there, and have a fair few gallons ready to drink in fresher's week :drink:

    Young Newbie from the midlands!

Thanks for all the replies :D I sure have caught the bug, spent a long long time doing some research and gathering recipes, seeing what was the norm and what things people experimented with. For the time being i just want to get a good grounding and move on from there once i've got the basics...

    Young Newbie from the midlands!

Thanks :thumb: I'm really looking forward to it. It should be interesting to see what other students think about brewing my own drinks! :hmm: Should save a little bit of money anyway :)

    Young Newbie from the midlands!

Hi all, I've enjoyed reading this forum for the past few weeks, it has been very insightful! I'll tell you a bit about me first. I'm an 18 year old student, soon to be off to university. For a few years i've dreamt of making my own cider as one of my neighbours has a large apple orchard and...
