    BIAB KIT Advice request

Thanks That actually sounds quite do-able. I might have another look at it, when I bought it I thought I was all set but had a couple of horrible brew days and rage quit.

    BIAB KIT Advice request

Thank you gentlemen. @simonind I did get some bits of wire off ebay and might have even tried opening it with a screwdriver but that's as far as I got then gave up. Electricity is scary, especially combined with water. This was partly why I quit brewing tbh. My buffalo is virtually brand new...

    BIAB KIT Advice request

Hi all. I did a fair few brews, then life got busy and I stopped. It's been 6 years. I've still got all my stuff, and I wanted to pick it up again and need some advice on BIAB equipment. I have a buffalo 40l electric kettle, used it a few times for BIAB. But never managed to get a...

    AG#3 - Grapefruity IPA

I want to get my brewing shoes on again soon, hoping to make an IPA with citrus and grapefruit notes. Got myself some old skool Comet hops, cold pressed grapefruit extract and some aroma hop oil - Also wanted to try a late hop additions only schedule, and will be using pellets instead of whole...

Has anyone used COMET hops ?

Thanks guys - It sounds like an interesting one to try, I will probably use it for dry hop and try not to go too heavy handed - Hoping to get something luscious and grapefruity :thumb:

Has anyone used COMET hops ?

Cheers @wfr42 It's this bit that I'm concerned about " Bittering your American style brew with Comet hops can be objectionable to some, but when done properly the result is one of a kind." Wondered if anyone can advise me how to do it properly, not objectionably - And also how suitable this...

Has anyone used COMET hops ?

I've just ordered some Comet hops - From what I've read, this is an old fashioned hop and has some strange/harsh flavours - Dank, Skunky, Cat Pee (!!) as well as what I'm looking for: Grapefruit I'm planning my next brew to be a grapefruit infused American IPA, which will be my normal grain...

    Begginer Conditioning Method Queries

On bottling day calculate correct amount of priming sugar - sterilise in boiling water and add to second FV(bottling bucket), then syphon your beer onto this from your first FV - avoid splashing, try to get the siphoned beer to whirlpool around the bottom of the bucket so its well mixed with the...

Bottled 4 22liter batches in one session.

I drunk nothing but commercial lager until about five years ago when I went mad one day in Tesco and bought 2 of everything on the premium world beers section. Amongst them was Goose Island IPA, unlike anything I'd ever tasted before and it really struck a chord - My tastes changed almost...

Bottled 4 22liter batches in one session.

Bloody hell that's impressive, 160ish bottles ? It's a pain in the bum just doing one batch with a helper!

    Evil dog IPA

The Youngs IPA was my favourite kit, and after my first go I also started buying extra hops to finish it Since I've gone All Grain though I now understand what a real heavy dry hop looks like :) My last one had a combined 120g of Chinook, Amarillo & Cascade whole leaf which was a layer...

    Evil dog IPA

Hello mate, I've done this very kit twice myself last year. You say you moved it to the fridge after 3 weeks - Was this after you had bottled and primed it ? 90g priming sugar seems low, I use about 130g of dextrose for a batch this size. Once bottled it will be carbonated in 2-3 weeks -...

    Anyone who BIAB use...

Yes! Although first attempt I used the wifes wire cake cooling rack, you can imagine how that turned out - Oven shelf is perfect size and strong :thumb:

    Homebrew android phone apps

I love the Brewers friend pc desktop version but didn't like the android interface and it seemed to be missing some of the functionality. This has made me a bit wary of trying any others yet

    Bottles. Advice and Information.

I tend to choose them depending on what labels come off easiest, rekorderlig cider fall into that category(I had to make the wife drink it all) but more recently lagunitas - I like the 355ml size and labels couldn't be easier to remove. It also helps that I love the beer too

All Grain Brewing - Believe the hype!!!

Not sure I'll do another kit - Some of them weren't bad, but they all had a certain indescribable taste (the 'twang' I guess) and that is what I wanted/needed to get rid of if this was going to be a long term hobby. Last nights tasting was a real cathartic moment, finally I've got there

    Grapefruit beer

+1 for Brewdog's Elvis Juice. I believe when they first released it they were giving bottles away in exchange for actual grapefruits :) Tempted to go give it a go myself and that MM extract looks just the ticket :thumb:

All Grain Brewing - Believe the hype!!!

"Move to AG and you'll never look back" "Your first AG brew will blow away any kit you've ever made" "The improvement from AG over a kit is immense" I've been hearing things like this since I first started this adventure, but my first AG brew was beset by problems and the end result, although...

Hi there, hello -Looking to move on from brewing kits

I'm 18 months in, did half a dozen kits in my first year and now moved to All Grain. I have successfully completed 2 x AG brews using BIAB Brew In A Bag method - I chose this because space is at a premium and it needs less equipment. The John Palmer book recommended above by Bodleigh Head is...
