    Cleaning cam locks

Great - if a bit of washing up liquid will do it, then I’ll wash by hand and then I was going to test my pump by pumping oxi through for a couple of minutes and then rinsing by pumping cold water. I’ll do all my tubing and cams that way. Does that sound okay?

    Cleaning cam locks

I have some new can locks that I am going to use for the first time shortly, but there is still machine oil in the parts themselves. Do these need oxy cleaning or similar to degrease before being used for hot wort or water?

    Temperature Controllers for Brew Fridge

The Inkbird does look good - I have heard good things about it. I have managed to get the app up and running for my STC1000, so almost have everything up and running for brew day!

    Temperature Controllers for Brew Fridge

Hi all! I have the wireless version of the Elitech STC-1000 Pro, but am not sure if I have the correct app. The only one that seems to be correct would be Elitech iCold. Who can ever app I have tried, I just get an error pop up in Chinese when I enter the GUID to find the controller. Any...

    InfuSsion Mash Tun (10 gallon)

Looks interesting. Could you still get something in the end of the new valve, like a cam or is it the other part of a triclamp valve (with hose tail) that wills attach? Is the black end of the sleeve basically the gasket for the rest of the TC fitting?

Coleman Xtreme 50qt Mash Tun Conversion

I finally got some braided hose with no liner! I made a spring with 0.8mm SS wire to put inside, but I don’t think I got it tightly wound enough as it isn’t holding its shape and has the odd soft spot! A good dry run, but now I will know how to get it spot on, I reckon. 👍🏻

    Stainless Steel Braided Hose

    Got some hose! Problem solved!

    Stainless Steel Braided Hose

I had one more go with some 16mm PTFE lined hose, but it is so robust I just can’t get the pipe out. Can anyone find or does anyone know of a supplier (including eBay, that just supplies the braid? I can’t find one at all and it’s beginning to get me down now 🙁

    Stainless Steel Braided Hose

Thanks for the reply. I do mean hose barbs - sorry, my plumbing terminology is not always accurate! I have the 1/2” BSP barbs and from what I think I have gleaned overnight, I will have a 10mm diameter braided hose to clamp on. That should be fine. I can’t believe how hard it has been to source...

    Stainless Steel Braided Hose

Right! Definitely need a plastic inner, the rubber won’t move at all - almost all places I have looked only stock EDPM rubber lined braided hose now. Except for this autopart company: https://www.autosiliconehoses.com/8mm-stainless-steel-braided-hose-ptfe-liner.html This leaves 10mm diameter...

    Stainless Steel Braided Hose

Thanks for that - I’ll make sure to get Linemans to tackle this properly. I have .8mm SS wire to make a coil to line the hose afterwards to make it strong enough to handle the weight of the grain. Hopefully that will do it. 👍🏻

    Stainless Steel Braided Hose

Hi all! Following completion of my MT build - (Coleman Xtreme 50qt Mash Tun Conversion) - I am trying to make the SS braided hose manifold/filter. I have cut the ends off and am trying to remove what appears to very good quality thick black rubber hose from within. HOW???! I can slide the...

Coleman Xtreme 50qt Mash Tun Conversion

Scrap the previous post - Mash Tun now finally built!! The design was a slight gamble, as I used the grommet from the drain assembly and put it the other way round on the inside as the seal. I had to hammer the steel nipple through - it is a VERY snug fit. I have used a 45 degree elbow and...

Coleman Xtreme 50qt Mash Tun Conversion

Good evening! Right! Building this starting tonight with a plastic ring to reinforce the space between the two walls of the mash tun. Almost fits perfectly, cut a little ragged and so doesn’t meet absolutely exactly all the way round, but it is as good as it can be! THE IMPORTANT QUESTION...

    InfuSsion Mash Tun (10 gallon)

Sorry, forgot to ask about sparring with this - is it designed to take a fly-sparge arm or similar manifold? Or can you batch sparge with it too?

    InfuSsion Mash Tun (10 gallon)

Nice one, thanks for that. I am aiming for 28L brew length for most of my recipes, using a 30L fermenter. I was just worried that 35L might be slightly awkward with some recipes, as close to the limit in calculation. Having said that, my MT dead space in those calculations I made isn’t zero...

    InfuSsion Mash Tun (10 gallon)

Morning all! Has anyone used or have one of these mash tuns? If so, could you let me know what the maximum practical mash volume is? I know it is measured in US gallons and hoping it is around 37l that is a maximum reasonable volume. Are there any others that are similar by other companies...

    First Wort Addition

Hi all, My first brew day for my return to brewing is a Premium Bitter: https://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/threads/ag-1-bill-clay-bitter-bjcp-style-11b.100771/ …,I thought I would use FWA with this having read about it a bit, but now understand that it doesn’t smooth the bitterness of a...
