Do you cook with your beer?

If so, what are your favourite recipes? I just enjoyed a beef and ale casserole made with my (alemans) oatmeal stout. Bloody lovely!

    How do you strike?

Morning all, Currently I heat my strike water up to temp (calculated by some online software on brewers friend I think) then add to my preheated mash tun. I add the grain in a couple of stages and stir thoroughly for 30 seconds each time. But at the minute I'm struggling to get the temperature...

Should we be using Marris Otter when brewing APA?

Evening all, Doing some research tonight on american brewing forums and came across a few asking if they could brew their pale ales with marris otter... A lot of them are saying it adds more of a biscuit bready flavour which makes sense... but the question is, should we be ideally using...

Steeping Hops - Is this a better way of doing it?

Hi all, thought I'd start a new thread rather then keep hijacking the other one  I've been worrying about steeping hops after flameout, planning on doing it for 20-30 mins. I didn't want my IBUs sky rocketing, which I've read they may or may not do, by leaving the wort at 80c for...

Dry hopping in the FV vs Corny keg

I'm at a crossroads whereby I'll be kegging a first gold session ale in a week or two. I plan on dry hopping. But should I do this in the FV or in the corny? What are the advantages and disadvantages of both? If going down the corny route, what is the best approach? Muslin or in on their own?

Yeast vs Mash temp for session ale

Hi all, Doing a first gold session ale today. Aiming for a gravity of 1.036/1.038. Was going to use S04 but I have windsor in stock too. Question is, I want it to finish above 1.010, preferably 1.012. Should I mash at 68c or use Windsor and mash at 66c? Or should I do both?

    Conditioning for a Corny Keg

Hi all, I'm brewing a session beer tomorrow to go in my corny. I usually brew at 2 weeks fermenting then cool at 8c for a week to clear the beer. Is it worth it when kegging? Shall I just put in the keg at 8c carbonate and let it crash cool that way? Effectively eliminating an extra week in...
