    ITC-308 UK Giveaway

Good review Kman. Now I'm back from sunnier climbs, I plan to get my build together this weekend (weather permitting).

    The gout returns

Uric acid is generally disposed of by the kidneys as part of your urine. If the kidneys aren't doing their job properly, then the uric acid can build up as crystals in your joints. Drinking lots of water must surely help the kidneys along a bit, shouldn't it?

    The gout returns

I like the idea of keeping hydrated Gingerbrews. The instructions on allopurinol state that you should drink with plenty of water, and I drink a couple of litres of H2O a day anyway now days, so you could be on to something there.

    The gout returns

I am/was a fellow sufferer. I take a daily dose of Allopurinol and haven't had an attack for over 3 years now. Interestingly, I never had it until I started drinking real ale, but it could be so many other things in my diet, I just try to do all things in moderation. It is the worst pain I...

    Essex Tap Water

They do both mate. Go for the stuff in the clear bottle. Blue lid, blue label, that's the still water.

    Essex Tap Water

If that's true, then it would be the stuff that's 13p for 2 litres. Go for the Ashbeck at Tesco - costs a little more, but it does have a breakdown on the side of the bottle

    Essex Tap Water

I live in Billericay and i won't use the tap water to brew with. It's very hard and you can taste the Chlorine. (If you add a campden tab its ok for stout and porter I suppose) I buy 6 or 7 5litre bottles at Asda for each brew, just to be on the safe side.

    Dogs.

We've got a jack Russell. It's my 3rd. They all have their own characters, but they're definitely big dogs in a small dog's body. He's not even a year old yet, but full of beans!!

    ITC-308 UK Giveaway

Picked up my fridge yesterday, but still waiting for my heater to arrive. (To be honest, I think the courier is walking it to me). Off to Spain this weekend, so will not be able to put anything together for a couple of weeks now.

    ITC-308 UK Giveaway

To follow up from my previous response, I've picked up the ITC-308 from the post office. It looks a nice compact piece of kit. I'm just waiting for fridge and heater to be delivered and it will be all systems go. Will post a review once I have got everything together.

    What are you drinking tonight?

I'm sure there must be plenty of places producing "farmed" bergamot. Its the principal ingredient of Earl Grey tea, so the chattering classes would be up in arms otherwise. Anyway, it was a 6.5% IPA and it slipped down a treat. I got it in my monthly craft brew subscription. Will definitely...

    What are you drinking tonight?

Yeastie Boys Gunnamatta Earl Grey IPA. You can really taste the bergamot. 8/10

    Cinnamon in beer

I used cinnamon in a Christmas ale that I brewed (along with all spice and star anise I think). It gave it a slight taste almost like a cough medicine. Not really a pure real ale flavour, but not unpleasant when drank with mince pies or Christmas pud. That said, I still have plenty left in the...

    Beer for Curry?

I had lamb vindaloo accompanied by a pint of ESB last night. Perfect match imho

    Bulldog, Evil Dog Double IPA

In theory you can do either, but in practice I've nearly always activated in a drop of cooled, previously boiled water containing some sugar or DME. Left it to start bubbling (around 20-30 mins) and then pitched into my wort.

    Anyone doing dry January?

Yeah. We had no trains out of Liverpool St on Weds. I wasn't going to be mooching around the City all night, so I met up with a few friends and it it was bye bye dry Jan. Got drunk so much easier though.
