    St Peters Cream Stout

This kit does not require the adding of sugar, I added the spray malt to give it a better body. Everything went in at the start, and I used fresh ground beans from my grinder. Just make sure not to use boiling water to make up the coffee.

    St Peters Cream Stout

Normally a Coopers stout person, but thought I would try a different one. Followed instructions with these additions. Added 100g ground coffee brewed with 2 L of very hot but not boiling water. Added 500g light spray malt Fermented @ 20L with S-04 yeast @ 18C for 14 days Bottle carbonated with...

    Brewferm raspberry??

Freeze the fruit first, then thaw out, it breaks down the fibre and creates more raspberry taste.

    Chill Haze?

What causes a homebrew Pilsner kit to be chill hazed. It was fermented as per instructions, racked and dry hopped as per instructions Carbonated for 14 days @ the same fermentation temp, clear enough to read newspaper through it Placed in storage @ 8C for 1 month Decided to sample it last...

Anyone fitted a brew fridge fan

Surely if you do it like this, the belts are working against the fridge setting, example: the fermenter sensor turns on the belt, the fridge sensor then detects a rise in temp and turns the fridge on, and it goes on and on in a circle of wasted energy. I too don't use a fan, but my shelves are...

    Gas or electric

Gas is a far more efficient means of heating than electric. Electric is by far the more accurate if used with a controller. Do the mash with electric & the boil by gas

    Best ipa kit

I may be wrong, but floc tabs are normally added to the last 10 minutes of the boil.

    Not enough yeast

No one sells liquid yeasts near me, the cost of P&P totally excludes me using it.

    Not enough yeast

I've just made up a St Peters Cream Stout kit + 500g of light spraymalt. The first thing I noticed was the kit yeast is only a 6g sachet. In my experience 6g is not enough yeast to ferment 20 litres of wort @ 1.052 properly. To make sure I didn't get a stuck fermentation I substituted it for a...

    Malt extract imperial stout recipe?

Use the MRmalty calculator, about 7 grams should be right for an imperial http://mrmalty.com/calc/calc.html

    Bitterness

Thanks Oneiroi, your answer has explained what I wanted to know.

    Bitterness

If I boil 25g of hops with an AA of 10 in 5 litres of water for 60 minutes, would this be twice as bitter than if I had used 10 litres of water, or put another way, does a certain amount of hops boiled for 60 minutes half its bitterness every time you double the liquid content.

    Best Kit Beer

OK guys, quite a few comments. Time is on my side as it's 3 months on. I have a brew fridge so it does matter the style of beer, just so long as it tastes good. Thanks hichaechoc, I'd forgotten about Woodfordes, I love wherry, you may have the answer there.

    Extract instead of all grain

I went ahead and made an IPA with just DME and a 30 minute boil with hops. It came out at 1.060 with an IBU of 50, so I pitched an S-05 yeast and it's in the brew fridge at 20C for the next 3 weeks before dry hopping it with more cascade. The big difference in my brewday was how little time it...

    Extract instead of all grain

I have a small all grain system which only makes 11 litres of wort at a time. I would like to make a 40 pint brew, one all grain and one extract both brewing at the same time instead of doing it twice with the all grain, then blending together in one fermenter. I have enough equipment to run 2...
