    More Jacko allegations

im sorry, but MJ was a complete weirdo, he surrounded himself with children all of the time. you may say he was childlike himself or some other excuse, but this was a grown adult man spending a large amount of his time with very young kids, with them often sleeping at his house and in his...

    Lucky Find

im lucky enough that my in laws live in coalville, so have they gone to the abbey several times (purely for the beer!) my father in law dropped a case off with me when me met on holiday last month. I really like it, although i do think it would benefit from being aged some more in the bottle, so...

    Cold crashed for 7 days+

i lost a very very hoppy IPA to oxidation through extended cold crash, i think i stupidly left it for about 2 weeks. I was just using a small bubbler on top, and as it cooled it sucked back in air which i believe caused the oxidation. looked and tasted great before the cold crash, then at...

    AnyFord Mechanics?

I have the 2009 version of this, i think its called a Nav FX or something like that. Mine is DVD based system, but I'm pretty sure yours must be the later SD one. On mine, you pull the volume nob off (N on the diagram) and then pull the plate off that sits behind it. then you can see a DVD...

    Spam

Vambrace, i think you are right there, as i saw something on this the other day. They said something about the original coders who came up with email clients were of the 'geekier' variety and did indeed make reference to the monty python sketch. Lets hope this is true, or the truth doesn't ever...

    Kit to extract brewing advice

God i love this forum! that for all the advice, it has really encouraged me to crack on and give it a go, and doesn't sound much more involved than kits to be honest. Thanks for the offer of some recipes Chub, i will drop you a pm when back at home. Anyone suggest a good steeping grain for a...

    Kit to extract brewing advice

Thanks for the tips, I guess it's all about experimenting really. I did read that the more extract you add at the start impacts on hop utilisation, and as they are expensive am going to try to get the most out of them. Will check out brewersfriend

    Kit to extract brewing advice

Afternoon all After some advice from all you knowledgable people please. I have been brewing kits for a few years, but have tired of these and want to have a go at extract brewing. Would love to do AG but don't have the time for that at the moment with working 2 full time jobs and having a 1...

    Cold crashing and priming

depends on what style you are brewing, Ale, IPA, lager etc, but 1g sounds too low to me. remember you have to input the temp that you brewed at, not the temp after cold crashing

    re-pitch?

just thought i would give some feedback on this issue. I decided to just bottle both brews up as normal. Both were clear as a whistle due to the time being sat in the FVs. they have been sat for 4 days now in the kitchen, and low and behold, both are carbing up nicely. the few PET bottles i have...

    re-pitch?

great idea 91, will give that a try. Will put some cling film over the glass to see if any bulging happens. Do i need to dilute the test sample though? can i not just draw off half a glass from each FV and bung in some sugar?

    re-pitch?

haven't taken a gravity reading in a few weeks, but the last one i took was down at 1.010 for the AIPA. Will do another reading tonight to see how low they have got. Just concerned too much yeast will have dropped out and the bottles/kegs won't carb up properly they both smell fine and taste...

    re-pitch?

Alright lads and ladies bit of advice needed. Got 2 kits on, a brewferm kit and a young AIPA. I have done loads of kits before, but this time around life has got in the way and both have been sat for 5-6 weeks. the brewferm kits is still sat in primary, but the young i racked off a week ago...

    Help teabag hops.

I don't think that's right. I've done the bulldog bad cat kit which also has hop tea bags. When I added the boiling water for them to steep, they turned to mush in the tea bag. The hop pellets should have broken up. I suggest squeezing the tea bags so there is no air inside so the pellets can...

St Peters Ruby Red Ale review

From my experience, the twang is there if being consumed before it's ready. Hop bombs disguise this so you can drink very early, but a standard ale or bitter needs a good 2, 3 or even 4 months to reach its best. Saying that, I haven't done this kit, but I have 1 mini keg of festival golden...

    Mini Keg (w/ Partystar tap)/KingKeg PB/Corny (other)

i to used to bottle everything until very recently. The wife kindly bought me the party star starter kit for xmas as well as another keg. This has allowed me to keg up most of a brew with a few glass and PET bottles which are generally used for testing. I have to say it has really changed my...
